Renal Advanced Practice Area Specific Capability and Curriculum

The ANN UK Community of Practice group for advanced practice have produced this Renal Advanced Practice Area Specific Capability and Curriculum Framework to standardise practice for advanced practitioners working within Renal.

A number of guidelines in use across the country relating to advanced clinical practice by practitioners within renal settings were reviewed alongside the ST3 training framework used by doctors.

The document was formatted in line with already published NHS England Advanced Practice area specific capability and curriculum frameworks from other specialities, to continue the standardisation process.

The draft document was then reviewed and received approval by a number of Renal Advanced Practitioners across the country in terms of content and usability.

Further comments were also sought from NHS England, RCN, UKKA and ANNUK.

Whilst we await clarification as to the specifics of the NMC directive, we have recommended that this document be introduced into practice as a means of standardising the training curriculum for renal advanced practitioners.
